Colorado Stream Update: Stretches near Steamboat are beginning to awake from winter

Current Conditions at Yampa:

The Yampa is fishing well, and more of the river seems to free up by the day. The sections right below stagecoach are fishing decent, but show signs of pressure from the winter. Areas near Chuck Lewis are just becoming fishable, and the fish are hungry! Try nymphing slower, deep water. Although spring is near, fish are still a little slow to eat and holding lower in the water column.

The weather is warming up outside and it is beginning to look like spring again! For a good chance at hooking a big fish try dead drifting mayfly patterns. Our guides suggest productive patterns like the Zebra Midge or Money Midge.  The fishing is good.  Clear skies and 36-39 degree weather. The water temperature was between 32-35 degrees and Crystal Clear.
