Colorado Stream Update: Summer is approaching

Current Conditions at Chatfield State Park:

As the weather warms up the fishing will start to turn on more. That means bass as well as trout will be more willing to eat. However, with the warmer weather comes stronger boat traffic and angler pressure so presentation and fly choice will be important. Crawdads will be moving around, baitfish will be more active, and hatches will be more common to the morning and afternoon. A moving fly, such as, a sparkle minnow or flashy streamer is a good choice. If the clouds are in or the temperatures are a little colder fish can still be found on an indicator using smaller flies. Target drop-offs and structure.

Fly fishing reports have been fair to good. Streamers are pulling fish out of the water during the early morning and late evening.  The fishing is good.  Partly Cloudy skies and 56-59 degree weather. The water temperature was between 44-47 degrees and Slightly Off.
