Colorado Stream Update: The Walker Ranch section of South Boulder Creek is back on track and fishing lights out!

Current Conditions at South Boulder Creek:

Denver Water had the flow coming out of Gross Reservoir at a trickle for what seemed like the whole month of March but now that the flow is in the mid-50s cfs, the fish have spread out a bit more and are concentrating on feeding. BWOs and Caddis are both hatching on warmer days here, as the water temperature can fluctuate between the mid-40s and mid-50s, and with that the trout here seem willing to take any type of good surface presentation right now. Elk Hair Caddis and BWO adults are both great imitations to bring along. If you notice that there isn't a lot of surface activity the trusty old RSII and JuJu Baetis will both work great subsurface. Look for trout along slower seams and pocket water. 5x tippet is the best sized line to use right now.

Spring is here and it’s time to grab the rod and head for the mountains and foothills! Many of the dam released stretches just outside of Denver and Boulder are fishing quite well with eggs, midges, and mayfly emergers. As the weather warms the water is rising as well. Runoff is around the corner so hit your local streams around Denver/Boulder while you can!  The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 56-59 degree weather. The water temperature was between 48-51 degrees and Crystal Clear.
