Colorado Stream Update: The San Juan is fishing extremely well right now!

Current Conditions at San Juan:

New Mexico's most well-known and renowned river is fishing light's out right now with stable flows in the mid to high 500 cubic feet per second range. While northern New Mexico hasn't seen the monsoon rains that most of Colorado has seen lately, there are a lot of overcast days, and the midge and baetis hatches on these days have made the fishing phenomenal. Small #22 Blue Wing Olives trailed by 18" of 4x fluorocarbon tippet and either a #22 gray RSII or #22 purple Ju Ju Baetis will get the job done all day long! The further away you get from the dam the larger the insects will get, but from the pullout on up to the reservoir plan on using size #20s and smaller.

The fishing is good.  Overcast skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 60+ degrees and Crystal Clear.
