Colorado Stream Update: Streamers are working great here at Quincy Reservoir!

Current Conditions at Quincy Reservoir:

Plenty of Smallies are being caught right now on black Bass Poppers but trout are heavily feeding on olive colored streamers as well. Also, the midge hatch here at Quincy has been fantastic and fish are rising and feeding off of the surface towards the latter part of the day around 4:00pm, so fishing close to the bank with a small #20 Parachute Adams can be as fun as it gets on still water!

The water has been open for a couple of weeks now and the bite is on! The midge hatch is on fire on the local creeks! Our professional fly fishing guides recommend fishing a big dry fly you can see such as a Parachute Adams, for best results tie on a Brook’s Sprout Midge a foot behind your Adams. Working streamers has been very productive! Try using a big fly like a Sex Dungeon or Sculpzilla trailed by a Kolanda Mini Sculpin or Belly Ache Minnow. Try fishing a darker black or olive streamer.  The fishing is fair.  Overcast skies and 44-47 degree weather. The water temperature was between 52-55 degrees and Crystal Clear.
