Colorado Stream Update: Now is the time to head to The Eagle!

Current Conditions at Eagle:

The Eagle is absolutely on fire right now! While nymphing, Eggs in colors peach and chartreuse are moving trout in incredible numbers but size #16 Golden Stoneflies and 20 Incher Stonefly patterns are also inducing takes so hard that it looks like your strike indicator is swimming up river! Its also the time of year that the Baetis (Blue Wing Olive) nymph starts to really get active and become a major source of food for trout. #20 Pheasant Tails & Two-Bit Hookers work great here as a BWO nymph imitations while #20 RSIIs and JuJu Baetis patterns are great emerging imitations of the insect. Trout will rise and take your offering off of the surface on overcast days and the best flies for that are #18 Sprout BWOs and #20 Parachute Adams.

Time to head to Colorado‚Äôs western slope for some of the first fly casts of the year. The bugs are moving around, look for stoneflies crawling towards the banks.  Due to the spawning fish, fishing egg patterns can be quite productive. Try fishing various sizes and colors of egg patterns to fool hungry fish. The weather has been warm and the water is beginning to rise. The Frying Pan, Blue River below Dillon, Williams Fork and Taylor are all flowing at good fishable levels.  The fishing is fantastic.  Clear skies and 52-55 degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Slightly Off.
