Colorado Stream Update: Sight fishing is the name of the game on the DSP right now.

Current Conditions at Downtown:

Fly fishing for trout is best from Santa Fe and Huron down river to Carson Nature Center. Trout are feeding on Pheasant Tails, Egg patterns, Graphic Caddis patterns, and SJ Worms. The water temps are hovering in the mid-40s so Baetis insects are emerging through the water column which has the trout in the middle water column so good observation on your part will let you know how much weight to use on your nymph rig-- we have not had enough surface action to recommend dry fly fishing as of yet. Carping has been slow as the water can still be a bit too cold to get them actively feeding. Walk the river in between Mile High and Elitches and be as stealthy as possibly while looking for those elusive Carp. When you spot one, place a #12 Crayfish with a slow retrieval in front of him and make that presentation look so good its irresistible!

Not too terribly crowded on the river today. The winds have been manageable and during the calm days we have seen some prolific insect hatches. Better bring a big net!  The fishing is fair.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 48-51 degrees and Crystal Clear.
