Colorado Stream Update: The water is a bit off-color through Lyons but the fishing is great!

Current Conditions at Saint Vrain:

The fishing on the St. Vrain has been quite good despite the off-color tint to the water. The key here is to fish soft holding water. Trout are holding close to the bank and behind structure where they can find a respite from the fast current. With that said, it's also the beginning of Dry-Dropper season on the St. Vrain! Amy's Ants, Chubby Chernobyl Ants, Charlie Boy Hoppers. Yellow Stimulators, and large Caddis are all working great as your lead dry fly. Trail that with 18-20" of 4-5x tippet with a Graphic Caddis or black RSII and you'll be good to go!

Spring is here and it’s time to grab the rod and head for the mountains and foothills! This is some of the best action of the year on The St. Vrain! The fish have not seen any pressure in months and good hatches of midges and blue winged olives keep the fish rising. As the weather warms the water is rising as well. Runoff is around the corner so hit your local streams around Denver/Boulder while you can! The water is high but we are still catching fish.  The fishing is good.  Clear skies and 52-55 degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Slightly Off.
