Colorado Stream Update: Fish are rising on Clear Creek!

Current Conditions at Clear Creek:

Big ugly dry flies like an Amy's Ant, Yellow Stimulator, and large Caddis are all fooling trout along seams here on Clear Creek. Trail your dry by 16 inches of 5x tippet with either a Graphic Caddis or Prince Nymph and you'll cover two water columns and really get into the action. Knowing where the trout will be is just as important as the fly you have on, so target seams (this is where fast water meets slow water), pocket water behind structure, and the tail outs of faster riffles.

This is some of the best action of the year on Clear Creek! The fish have not seen any pressure in months and good hatches of midges and blue winged olives keep the fish rising. As the weather warms the water is rising as well. Runoff is around the corner so hit your local streams around Denver/Boulder while you can! Fishing is good but it’s still cold out there! To maximize the bite strive to be on the water from 10 am to 2 pm.  The fishing is good.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Slightly Off.
