Current Conditions at Waterton:

The fly fishing here in Waterton Canyon is still fairly technical, as we're having to use small tippet (6x is working the best right now) and very small flies. A quick seine of the river will reveal that most of the insects here are small midge larva that are no larger than a #22 hook. The best patterns to use here are a #24 brown Brassie and a #24 Black Beauty. Trout here are still concentrated in deep pockets so be prepared to add enough weight to your nymph rig to get down deep!

Bring some warm clothes, its cold outside! Not too terribly crowded on the river today. Try tiny midge and mayfly imitations and 6x and 7 x tippets.  The fishing is slow.  Clear skies and 44-47 degree weather. The water temperature was between 36-39 degrees and Crystal Clear.
