Colorado Stream Update: We need colder weather and another good winter storm here on the Western Slope, otherwise we'll be looking at run-off in mid-April.

Current Conditions at Lower Colorado:

The lower section of the Colorado near Glenwood Springs is already in the beginning process of run-off as the high day and night time temps here have the snow melting and turning the water extremely off-color. During this early spring melt, trout are keyed in on large patterns. Think SJ Worms, 20 Incher Stone Flies, Golden Stone Flies, Prince Nymphs and large Hare's Ears. Even a well placed streamer is occasionally moving trout. Look for trout to be stacked in slow pocket water along the banks as the river continues to rise and turn off-color during these warm days.

The fishing is slow.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 36-39 degrees and Off-Color.
