Colorado Stream Update: BWOs are just about to pop here in the canyon!

Current Conditions at Cheesman Canyon:

The water temperature isn't quite warm enough for the Blue Wing Olives here to really start their spring hatches, but plenty of nymphs are in the drift right now. Stonefly imitations, 20 Inchers are a good example, are great lead flies on your nymph rig which should be trailed by RSIIs, Disco Midges, Zebra Midges, and Two-Bit Hookers. Trout are finally starting to move into more traditional spring feeding lanes like quick riffles and tail-outs.

The fishing is great but the crowds close to Denver are thick! Flows have been stable and nymph fishing with small midges and mayflies is the name of the game. We are catching some larger than average rainbows and lots of smaller browns.  The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 52-55 degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Crystal Clear.
