Colorado Stream Update: The Colorado River near Parshall is fishing great right now and should definitely be considered a destination spot when heading west of Denver.

Current Conditions at Colorado @ Kemp/Breeze:

Streamers are moving large Rainbows and Browns, but outside of that, Stoneflies and Baetis nymph patterns are hooking trout on a consistent basis. As the weather continues to warm up, look for Stonefly and Baetis insects to get more active in the water column which will have the trout here keyed on imitations such as 20 Inchers, Two-Bit Hookers, Golden Stoneflies, Pheasant Tails, and Hare's Ears. And as the water temps gets to the mid 40s, Baetis nymphs will emerge through the water column-- this is known as a Blue Wing Olive hatch. Catching trout on the Colorado River on the surface with BWO adults is fun as it gets! Look for the BWO hatch to gain intensity towards the end of the month of March, or as long as the weather continues to rise.

The weather is warming up outside and it is beginning to look like spring again! Time to head to Colorado‚Äôs western slope for some of the first fly casts of the year. Steamers are a fantastic way to move large trout during the higher water.   The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 48-51 degree weather. The water temperature was between 36-39 degrees and Crystal Clear.
