Colorado Stream Update: Visibility is still limited to 12-18" here so your ability to read "fishy" water will be crucial in your success on the San Juan.

Current Conditions at San Juan:

Despite the lack of sight fishing here the fly fishing has been great. Both walk-wading and drifting have been working well, but if possible drifting the SJ can result in a 50 fish day! Leeches, San Juan Worms (who woulda guessed?!) and Scuds are all working well as lead flies on nymph rigs. Trail that with a small midge emerger like a Top Secret or Chocolate Foam Emerger and you'll have yourself one helluva day! Local guides are reporting that BWOs are making their presence known on a limited basis as well, but for the remaining month of March midges will continue to be the main hatching insect. Visibility should clear up within the next 3-4 weeks as well.

The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 56-59 degree weather. The water temperature was between 36-39 degrees and Slightly Off.
