Colorado Stream Update: The Arkansas tailwater below Pueblo Reservoir is at a very low 52 CFS, so light tippet and a stealthy approach are crucial to your success.

Current Conditions at Arkansas:

The weather is absolutely beautiful in Pueblo right now which has led to plenty of insect activity but it's also got the crowds out in thick numbers! When the river is extremely crowded like it is now, it's important to remember to be courteous to other anglers and use proper river etiquette. Even with thick crowds like this if you take time to walk up river or down, you'll find an open spot, so please don't high hole your fellow angler. With that being said, the fly fishing here has been very productive with the warmer day and nighttime temps heating the river up. The BWO life cycle is in full play right now-- Pheasant Tails, RSIIs, and adult BWOs on the surface are all fooling trout very well. With the low flow and high pressure this river receives it's important you use a 9 foot leader and 6x tippet as these trout are getting very weary this time of year.

Make sure you are getting a good drag free drift in order to hook fish. The fish are pooled up right now. Look for fish holding in the slowest and deepest runs and holes in the river. Fly fishing reports are good. The low and clear winter water makes for excellent sight fishing conditions. The winter fly fishing in Colorado is great.  The fishing is good.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 44-47 degrees and Crystal Clear.
