Fly fishing Colorado's Arkansas River will reward you with plenty of action in beautiful surroundings. Perhaps one of the most overlooked Colorado Rivers; the Arkansas is an extremely productive fishery for wild brown trout and the occasional bigger rainbow. The headwater sections of the Ark are a lot of fun with lighter weight fly rods and a box of dry flies. The upper sections of the Ark are filled with fun pocket water, beautiful meadow streams and accompanied by beaver ponds and small lakes and ponds. As the river gets bigger towards Salida, the Ark is a popular destination for whitewater rafting and streamer fishing these sections for aggressive brown trout is very productive. The famed Spring Mother’s Day Caddis hatch congregates anglers from around the state looking for rising browns. The insect life and picturesque valley makes the Arkansas one of our Colorado favorites.
